But now that the Zero is here, we now consider it to be the one before the 1 in the Nike Air Max 1. Confused? Well, you shouldn't be. Or maybe you should because even I needed refresher course after I heard about the origins of Nike's latest yet technically oldest Air Max shoe, the Nike Air Max Zero.

Before the release of what would be known as the Nike Air Max 1 in 1987, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker designed a shoe two years prior that contained visible Nike Air for the first time. That original design remained in the Nike archives until now when it Nike Air Max Vapor was revived with the help of designer Graeme McMillan. The result is the Nike Air Max Zero, a shoe that looks like it could have existed in 1980s but with the comforts of modern technology such as a mesh upper and synthetic overlays.
